    Jamboree Thank-Yous

The Family Curator and Mom Suzanne
unload Blogger Welcome Bags at SCGS Jamboree 2009

Before we move too far away from Jamboree 2009, I do want to say a heartfelt "thank you" for the surprise additions to the Blogger Welcome Bags. My email box started pinging when Thomas put out the word that out-of-town bloggers would be receiving a "swag bag" on check-in.

The initial idea was just to give travelers a bit of fortification for the three-day extravaganza. Mom and I packed bright yellow tote bags with water, fresh fruit (a California orange, of course!), chips, chocolate, fortune cookie, and a welcome note. The Family Curator added a bit of shameless self-promotion in the form of a bright green highlighter pen, and then we had the fun of adding

Geneabloggers Thomas MacEntee helped coordinate distribution of the Welcome Bags as well as sponsored the Bloggers Summit and organized the First Bloggers Banquet.

Randy Seaver took on the role of roving reporter, play-by-play newscaster with Twitter feeds, with able assistance from Amy Coffin, Kathryn Doyle, Susan Kitchens, footnoteMaven, Elizabeth O'Neal, and so many many others.

Thanks everyone (Mom too), for all your help! See you ALL next year!

You and your mom did a great job with the gift bags! Everyone wanted to know how they could get one as soon as they arrived!

The water was necessary since it was so hot and the apple and orange provided needed sustenance in between sessions.

I took Janet Hvorka up on her coupon of 50% off and brought home a huge 14 generation chart that I can't wait to put up in my office!

And I am looking forward to working with Roots Magic 4 - thanks Bruce!

The Family Curator highlighter is sitting here at my desk as I write this!

And the fortune cookie? Well I was able to convince Sheri Fenley that you must add "in bed" at the end of every fortune you read when opening a fortune cookie.

Oh yes, all good fortune begins "in bed."

Thank you again for the wonderful gift bags - they were such a terrific surprise!

My daughter is enjoying decorating our house with the green highlighter pen - still trying to find out if it washes out of furniture. I forget what my fortune was, but it was something like "children will bring you great happiness." I definitely don't want to add "in bed" to that one!

It was wonderful meeting you in person, Denise!

Geneablogers, Elizabeth -- We are so glad the "swag bags" were useful. Mom and I had a great time putting them together.

Sheila (and April too) -- Thanks for the calm oasis in the midst of Jamboree madness. It was a highlight of the weekend to meet you both; I'll be looking for you at the next genea-event.

The gift bag was awesome! Thank you so much! It was so great to meet you and your mom. Enjoyed chatting with you at the banquet! Hope our paths will cross again soon!

I am so glad that we finally had some face time at the geneabloggers dinner. Your swag bags were a big hit and I for one was most grateful to have the snacks. I turn into Miss Crankypants when I am hungry.

Somewhere you had made a comment about wearing flip flops. So I was looking for a surfer with flip flops or for Penelope Dreadful. I did find Penelope - on the muffin box!

Amy Coffin and I decided that us girls should call ourselves Genea-Divas and take the show on the road. You know, take genea-blogging to the people!

Thanks again for making us feel welcome and very special.
